Truss's twisted lectern legacy

TAXPAYERS forked out more than £4,000 for the eyesore lectern Liz Truss used during her disastrous and brief stay in No10.

The higgledy-piggledy design, made up of a stack of twisted wooden blocks, was widely mocked and compared with a Jenga tower.

Two versions were specially made for Ms Truss – who only lasted 49 days as Prime Minister – with one paid for by the Conservative Party and another by the Government.

After a Freedom of Information request, Downing Street said £4,175 of taxpayer cash was spent on its version.
