LIZ Truss has revealed the late Queen told her "pace yourself" when she became PM in 2022, but she ignored the advice.
She then went on a tax-cutting spree that crashed the economy and lasted just 49 days in office our shortest-serving PM.
In her new book, Ten Years to Save the West, Ms Truss continues her attempts at rehabilitation with an account of her time in government.
She said the Queen offered her words of the wisdom when they met at Balmoral, only two days before the monarch's death, aged 96, in September 2022.
Ms Truss described the 20-minute meeting, telling how the Queen "seemed to have grown frailer".
She writes: "She was completely attuned to everything that was happening, as well as being typically sharp and witty. She warned me being Prime Minister is incredibly aging. She gave me two words of advice: 'Pace yourself'.&nbsp;Maybe I should have listened."
The book's publishers Biteback said Ms Truss will warn that her fellow Conservatives have been "captured by the leftwing influences that set the agenda and frame the debate".
The strapline describes the book, which is out next week, as "Lessons from the only Conservative in the room".
