BALACLAVA-CLAD thugs held a “Rambo-style” knife to Mark Cavendish’s throat during a terrifying raid on the Olympic cyclist’s home, a court heard.
The star was asleep in bed with wife Peta and one of their children when a gang stormed in, making off with two Richard Mille watches worth £700,000.
Mark said he tried to hit a panic alarm but they pounced on him.
The 37-year-old told the court: “One held me and another pulled out a knife and held it in my face. It wasn’t a knife you have in a kitchen. It was black and had holes in it. It was a weapon.”
Giving evidence, Peta, 36, broke down as she recalled the November 2021 raid in Ongar, Essex, describing it as “everyone’s worst nightmare”. She said she was naked when she went to investigate a noise from downstairs that had woken her and she could see “men’s figures in balaclavas running towards the bottom of the stairs”.
