OWEN FARRELL has refused to rule out a return to national colours ahead of the next World Cup in 2027.
The former England captain sat out the Six Nations to protect his mental health and will be unavailable to national head coach Steve Borthwick when he moves to France next season.
The fly-half has signed a two-year deal with French giants Racing 92, barring him from England selection, but may return to the Premiership after that.
He would be 36 at the World Cup in Australia - two years younger than Ireland's Johnny Sexton and Farrell's boss at Saracens Mark McCall (right) insists he would be up to the job.
And Farrell has left the door open for an international return.
He said: "I've stepped back and there's a change happening next year. Then we'll see." McCall said: "You must have the competitive spirit to do that and I think he has.
