Tories crow over inflation drop yet millions still struggle to afford bills

OUT-OF-TOUCH Tories have been crowing about the drop in inflation despite prices still soaring as millions of households continue to struggle with punishingly high bills.

Multi-millionaire Chancellor Jeremy Hunt hailed the Government's "decisive action" as it was yesterday confirmed the Consumer Price Index fell from 7.9% to 6.8% last month.

Yet he said nothing about the impact of rocketing Bank of England rate hikes or the fact the UK still has the highest inflation of any major economy.

Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves said: "Thirteen years of Tory economic failure has left Britain worse off."
