The firm yesterday confirmed chief executive Ben van Beurden will step down at the end of this year.
The news comes as Shell has been condemned for making huge profits on the back of soaring energy prices caused by Russia's war in Ukraine.
Mr Van Beurden, 64, has netted about &pound;78million in salary, bonuses and add-ons since taking over in 2014.
The Dutchman will remain as an adviser to the board until next June.
Shell chairman Sir Andrew Mackenzie said of the announcement: "Ben can look back with great pride on an extraordinary 39-year Shell career, culminating in nine years as an exceptional CEO."
