AFTER a glittering career spanning 24 years which has delighted millions of fans across the world, Roger Federer yesterday announced he is quitting tennis.
The 41-year-old eight-times Wimbledon champion has been plagued by injuries and operations in recent times and has not competed since a quarter finals loss at SW19 last year. He will now hang up his racket after the Laver Cup at the O2 Arena in London next weekend.
The Swiss star, known for his unflustered style and considered by many as the greatest player of all time, thanked his legion of fans for filling his many successes with “joy and energy”.
