JAKE WIGHTMAN flies to Munich today for the European Championships, mightily relieved the Commonwealth Games are behind him.

The burden he carried as a world 1500m champion desperate to deliver for Scotland, but running on empty emotionally after his career-changing triumph in Oregon (above, right) a fortnight earlier took its toll.

A bronze in Birmingham (above) was the best he could drag out of himself.
