PARENTS are being urged to look out for symptoms of Strep A infection in their children after health officials revealed a massive rise in cases.

Strep A can cause a range of health issues, including the skin infection impetigo, strep throat and scarlet fever.

Although the vast majority of infections are relatively mild, experts have warned an invasive form of the bacteria, known as iGas, has increased, particularly in those aged under 10.

Scarlet fever is usually a mild illness, but it is highly infectious.
