King: I am glad to be out of my cage

THE King said he was glad to be "out of my cage" as he took part in his first military engagement since his return to public duties.

Charles, 75, who had taken time off to recover after a cancer diagnosis, was delighted to meet staff and families of the 3 Royal School of Military Engineering yesterday.

He was greeted at the training base for the Army's Royal Engineers in Surrey with a quarter guard salute.

Charles assumed the role of Colonel-in-Chief in March last year.
