Vow to mend 14 years of Tory hell  |  His pledge for a brighter future

WITH Britain battered by 14 years of Tory misery and showing no improvement under Rishi Sunak, Keir Starmer yesterday lit a beacon of hope for the future.

The Labour leader promised Mirror readers he will not let them down if handed the keys to No10 when the chicken PM finally calls an election.

On a visit to our HQ, Mr Starmer pledged a steely determination to get our country back on track with an economy that brings prosperity to all, despite inheriting a Tory-fuelled mess.

He also vowed to unite a nation crying out for change after being divided and worn down by culture wars and conspiracy theorists.

Answering some of the hundreds of questions submitted by readers, Mr Starmer insisted he was committed to the pensions triple lock. And he even pledged to save Britain's pubs.

Promising no complacency in the job of rebuilding Britain, he added: "We want the opportunity, if we can win the election, to bring about a decade of national renewal, which is a huge ambition for the country that will require a really steely mindset.
