THE owner of holiday park chain Pontins raked in profits of &pound;39million last year amid site closures.
Accounts for Britannia Hotels, controlled by tycoon Alex Langsam, also revealed its turnover jumped from &pound;117.8m to &pound;154.8m.
The sharp rise emerged after the sudden closure of three Pontins sites in the space of a few weeks.
The last was the resort at Ainsdale near Southport, Merseyside, in January.
Parks in Prestatyn, North Wales, and Camber Sands, East Sussex, shut suddenly at the end of November.
Britannia Hotels, which bought Pontins in 2011, has been accused of under-investing in the business.
Yet accounts for Britannia Hotels Ltd released by Companies House show profits rising from &pound;33.3m to &pound;39.4m in the year to the end of March 2023.
The holiday park arm is registered through another firm, Britannia Jinky Jersey Ltd, based in island capital St Helier, meaning little financial information is available.
When the Mirror confronted Mr Langsam at his 10-bedroom mansion in Cheshire in January, he claimed: "I am nothing to do with Pontins."
In its latest results, Britannia, based in Hale, Gtr Manchester, said last year's 31% jump in turnover came during a "period of difficult trading conditions".
Britannia Hotels was contacted for a comment.
