But when Mr Lee bought an endoscope, which sent video from in his ear to his phone, he spotted a foreign object. A doctor removed a 1cm plastic insert left from defenders he used during a flight in 2017.
Mr Lee, of Weymouth, Dorset, said: "As soon as this plastic came out I could hear perfectly. It feels like a new lease of life."
