GO-SLOW protesters brought motorways to a standstill yesterday as they demanded a fuel duty cut of up to 20p a litre.

Thirteen people were arrested as convoys of cars travelling at under 30mph hit routes including the M4 in Wales, M5 in Devon, M32 in Somerset and M180 in Lincolnshire.

Drivers put up with significant delays as the Prince of Wales bridge on the M4 between England and Wales was closed in both directions.

Twelve were arrested by Gwent Police for driving under 30mph for a “prolonged time”. A further arrest was made in Devon.
