THE King crowned his first state visit as monarch with a rapturous welcome in Germany's second city.
Crowds waving Union Flags greeted His Majesty and the Queen Consort in Hamburg, where they arrived yesterday after two days in Berlin.
Thousands braved the rain to meet the pair outside the City Hall, including Nina Towe, 51, and her friend Christina Wagner, 31, who were dressed like Mary Poppins in wide-brimmed hats.
Nina, of Hamburg, said: "I love everything to do with the Royal Family. I feel so happy that the King has come to Hamburg.
