RISHI Sunak won a key vote on his Brexit deal yesterday - but ex-PMs Boris Johnson and Liz Truss were among 22 Tories who broke ranks to try to scupper it.
The Stormont brake mechanism in the Windsor Framework, intended to fix trade problems with Northern Ireland, passed the Commons comfortably by 515 votes to 29.
But Mr Johnson and Ms Truss were among rebels including ex-leader Iain Duncan Smith, right, and former Cabinet ministers Priti Patel and Simon Clarke who defied a three-line whip to vote against it. And no votes were recorded for more&nbsp;than 40 Tories - suggesting significant abstentions.
It came after hardline Brexiteers opposed the plan. Northern&nbsp;Ireland Minister Steve Baker said Mr Johnson risked becoming a "pound shop Nigel Farage" by voting against his party. And Lib Dem MP Layla&nbsp;Moran said: "Another day and another Conservative rebellion.&nbsp;We've had enough of this chaos."
Before the vote, DUP leader Sir&nbsp;Jeffrey Donaldson had made it clear his party would not return to powersharing at Stormont.
But a Government spokesman said: "The Windsor Framework is a turning point for Northern Ireland."
