Christians fall below half of all population

FOR the first time, fewer than half of the population of England and Wales describe themselves as Christian.

Some 46.2% of the population, 27.5 million people, told the 2021 census that they are Christian, down from 59.2% in 2011.

People who said they had no religion increased from a quarter to a third of the population.
