Analysis of Ministry of Defence data show 1,530 female service personnel quit last year. In comparison, just 1,420 signed up.

This is the first time this has happened since 2017 and Labour, which carried out the study, said the number leaving is up from 1,360 in the 12 months to September 2021.

Defence chiefs have been warned it could take 51 years to hit their target of 30 per cent of personnel being women.
