Mohamed Nur had a blade made from scissors as he cut the throat of Johanita Kossiwa Dogbey in daylight.
Ms Dogbey, 31, was walking alone in Brixton, South London, when she was struck from behind by a man in dark clothing. She died at the scene.
Nur, 34, admitted murder and having the blade on May 1 last year as well as having a weapon made of broken glass when he was arrested the next day. He denied three other slashing attacks two days before.
His Old Bailey trial had centred on the three attacks that happened around 11.30pm. Firstly Rebecca Wilkes was approached from behind, grabbed and slashed on her right cheek, causing a 3.5in cut.
