Diaz dazzles after sinner Nunez drops his side in it

A FIRST outing for Darwin Nunez in the red of Liverpool at Anfield ended with a red card and a red face as Crystal Palace held Jurgen Klopp’s side to an eventful draw on Merseyside.

The £85million Uruguayan was dismissed by referee Paul Tierney for a butt on Joachim Andersen in the 57th minute but Luis Diaz rescued a point for Liverpool with a superb equaliser four minutes later.

For Palace, who had stunned Liverpool with a first-half goal against the run of play by Wilf Zaha, a point at last season’s runners-up represented a job well done. For Nunez it was an embarrassing end to his first Premier League start after coming off the bench to score on the opening weekend at Fulham.

The 23-year-old lost the plot after a coming together with the defender and had to be escorted off the pitch by team-mate James Milner as he continued to remonstrate with the referee.
