SIR Keir Starmer yesterday aligned himself with the rest of the world and spoke out against Donald Trump's plan for America to "take over" Gaza and rebuild it as a Middle Eastern resort.
The Prime Minister insisted Palestinians "must be allowed home", said Britain would help them rebuild the war-ravaged territory and he repeated calls for a two-state solution to the crisis in the region.
His remarks during Prime Minister's Questions came after Mr Trump announced in the early hours the US could turn Gaza into the "Riviera of the Middle East" if the Palestinians were moved out.
Under his scheme, which he announced alongside Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, American troops would seize the enclave while its inhabitants would be relocated to Egypt and Jordan.
Both of those countries have already rejected Mr Trump's suggestion that they should take in Palestinian refugees.
Sir Keir told the House of Commons: "I have from the last few weeks, two images fixed in my mind. The first is the image of [freed British-Israeli hostage] Emily Damari reunited with her mother, which I found extremely moving.
