CROATIA 1
WALES 1
ROB PAGE proved reputations and big names now count for less in Wales' revamped set-up after Gareth Bale's retirement.
This was Wales' first game since their record scorer and captain Bale called it quits in January at the age of 33.
His goals and experience will, of course, be missed after 41 goals in 111 caps.
But there were times Bale started games for Wales when he clearly was not fit enough.
It became painfully apparent at the World Cup, where the former Real Madrid forward was a shadow of his former self and too often a passenger.
However, following Bale's retirement after Wales finished bottom of their group, manager Page pledged a new dynamic approach.
It already looks to be paying dividends after this opening point at Croatia, who finished third in Qatar.
It was not a vintage display - the visitors were outplayed for most of the match and Andrej Kramaric fired the hosts in front in the 28th minute.
