The 73-year-old has been struggling to stand and walk for long periods after a fall at his home in Los Angeles three years ago.
Wife Sharon, who has taken time off from her new UK TV show The Talk to be with Ozzy in California, called the treatment “a very major operation”.
She added: “I have to be there. It’s really going to determine the rest of his life.”
