Elton has made history with his Goodbye Yellow Brick Road becoming the highest-grossing tour of all time.
The Rocket Man singer has earned &pound;678million so far with another three months to go.
Elton, 76, said: "I'm not going to tour again. There may be the odd show, but I'm not touring.
"Touring is exhausting for me now and it takes me away from my family and my children. I finish on July 8, and I'm not concentrating on anything else apart from that date.
"And then I have a little bit of freedom.
I can relax. But I would have done 330 shows on this tour by that point." Elton is poised to become the first artist to generate a billion dollars from a music tour.
In January he landed the accolade of scoring the highest-grossing live tour beating friend Ed Sheeran, who held the record with his Divide tour.
Elton, who has sons Zach, 12, and Elijah, 10, spoke at an Emmy promotion event in Los Angeles to plug his Disney+ show Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium.
He said: "I couldn't have been happier with the way it all turned out."
