Senator Ike Ekweremadu, his wife Beatrice and Dr Obinna Obeta were yesterday convicted of conspiring to arrange travel for the man with a view to exploiting him for his organ.
The Ekweremadus' daughter Sonia, 25, declined to give evidence and was cleared after a landmark Old Bailey trial which resulted in the first convictions under the Modern Slavery Act for an organ-harvesting conspiracy.
Chief Crown Prosecutor Joanne Jakymec said: "This was a horrific plot to exploit a vulnerable victim by trafficking him to the UK for the purpose of transplanting his kidney."
