Build homes or face vote collapse, Sunak warned

THE Conservative vote will collapse unless he allows hundreds of thousands of new homes to be built, Rishi Sunak was warned.

The Tory party is split – between red wall MPs and those in true blue seats – over the Prime Minister’s planning reforms.

And he was forced to pull a vote on legislation that would have set a target of building 300,000 homes each year after dozens of his backbenchers threatened to rebel.

But former Cabinet minister Simon Clarke warned the Government will lose the next General Election unless it helps people onto the housing ladder with a homes building spree.

He said: “If you want to see what the future of the Conservatives is when we don’t build homes, look at London.
