<p>The RSPB&rsquo;s annual bird crime report found there were 108 incidents in 2021, with 80 in England.</p>
<p id="3">It is the country&rsquo;s second consecutive highest toll, with most incidents in Norfolk and Dorset.</p>
<p id="4">RSPB investigations boss Mark Thomas said: &ldquo;Illegal shooting, trapping and poisoning of birds of prey has no place in modern society.&rdquo;</p>
<p id="5">Beccy Speight, RSPB chief, added: &ldquo;Evidence shows illegal persecution of birds of prey, which is linked to gamebird shooting, is holding back the recovery of key species.&rdquo;</p>
<p>Incidents included 41 shootings or attempted shootings, 32 poisonings, 18 trapping incidents and illegal nest destruction. In once case, a mass grave of 11 buzzards and four red kites was found down a well on a Wilts pheasant shoot. A total of 91 birds were affected, including buzzards, red kites, peregrines, hen harriers, sparrowhawks and owls.</p>
