Bharti Airtel's roll-out of 5G on a pan-Indian basis will cover every town and key rural areas by March 2024, the company's chief executive officer and managing director, Gopal Vittal, said in a post-results conference call on Tuesday.
"We intend to launch 5G starting August and extending to a pan-Indian roll-out very soon. Detailed network rollout plans for 5,000 towns in India are in place," Vittal stated in a post-result conference call on Tuesday.
Vittal, however, did not give out a launch date and said the company was yet to decide on the pricing of its 5G plans.
Airtel, which saw nearly a six-fold jump in its net profit in the first quarter of FY23 to ₹1,607 crore on a year-on-year basis, has signed network agreements with Ericsson, Nokia, and Samsung.
