5G will contribute $450bn in revenue over 15 yrs: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called for collaborative efforts between the government and the industry for the rapid roll-out of 5G services. He said that the services will contribute $450 billion to the economy in the next 15 years.

While speaking at an event organised by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai), he said: "5G will bring positive changes to governance, ease of living, and ease of doing business. This will boost growth in every sector. Over the next decade and a half, 5G will contribute $450 billion through economic growth and job creation," Modi said.

He added that the country should be ready to launch 6G by the end of the decade and a task force has been formed for its roll-out.
