A GOAL in either half in-form from Hary Cardwell and Gus Scott-Morriss gave Southend United the perfect start to life under new ownership as they rallied to a well-deserved three points at the expense of a disjointed Woking outfit.

WRAPPED UP SHRIMPERS!

A Cardwell continued his rich vein of form, scoring in his fifth consecutive game to delight the Shrimpers fans, who arrived en masse to celebrate the arrival of Justin Rees and his new consortium.

And Scott-Morriss, who wrapped it up with a second nine minutes into the restart, said victory was no more than Kevin Maher's men deserved.

"It was going to be one of those games where we had to up for the physical battle," the right wing-back said. "We defended our box commandingly and we did the damage we needed to do.

"I have worked with the gaffer and the coaching staff to try and put good balls in.
