UPBEAT Michael Murray has backed in-form striker Ricardo German to play a ‘massive’ role in Chesham United’s push for promotion.

OUR RIC'S IN GREAT NICK!

The 24-year-old hit a hat-trick in last week’s impressive 3-1 away win over fellow high-fliers Merthyr Town in Southern Premier South.

It extended the Generals’ perfect league start to seven wins from seven – and ended the Martyrs’ own unblemished run in the process.

Grenada international German has previous Football League experience with Chesterfield and Crawley Town, and Chesham are hoping his second season at the club proves to be a prolific one.

“He’s going to be massive for us if we can keep him fit,” said joint-boss Murray, who leads the Generals alongside James Duncan. “There’s no shying away from the impact he can have.

“His hat-trick at Merthyr was a superb hat-trick – a good pen, a good finish and a great header – and it’s up to Ric really what he wants to achieve. He can go and score a hell of a lot of goals and hopefully drive us to promotion.”
