During the mandir movement, her fiery speeches in audio cassettes rang out from homes and streets.
She was counted by the Liberhan Commission among the 68 people who were culpable for leading the country to the brink of communal discord. She has been an ardent campaigner against illegal conversions and now lives a relatively quiet life as a preacher. Human rights groups across the world continue to oppose her entry into several countries. Excerpts from an interview:
