The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed the way people think and talk about mental health. Before the pandemic, mental health was still a taboo topic in many societies, and seeking help for it was stigmatised. However, the pandemic has brought the issue of mental health front and centre, and many people are now openly discussing their struggles with anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.
The reasons for this sudden focus are not far to seek. The pandemic brought with it a host of challenges such as isolation (loneliness), financial stress and a real fear of illness, which impacted peoples’ mental health. Consequently, there has been a significant increase in the availability of mental health resources and services, making it easier for people to seek and receive the help they need.
