Diplomatist: As the Ambassador of Peru to India, please share your impressions of working in India.
H.E. Mr. Javier Manuel Paulinich Velarde, Ambassador of Peru to India

H.E. Mr. Javier Manuel Paulinich Velarde: India possesses a rich cultural heritage, a dynamic economy, and a deep sense of tradition, all qualities that have greatly enriched my experience as an ambassador to this beautiful country. Peru shares with India the fact that we are both cradles of civilization, a feature that distinguishes us in the Latin American region, with Peru being the home of Caral, the civilization of peace that flourished over 5,000 years ago.

India, with its vast geographical expanse and diverse regional characteristics, offers a fascinating array of opportunities for cooperation between our two nations. The interactions I have had with Indian government officials, diplomats, and business leaders have been characterized by mutual respect and a shared commitment to fostering stronger bilateral ties at all levels.

I must mention that this is my second stint in India, having served as Ambassador between 2009 and 2015, making this my seventh year in this incredible country. I have seen India change and quickly develop over the last years, making strides in all areas and now leading the charge in many others.

Diplomatist: How do you see the recent development of Peru and India relations?

H.E. Mr. Javier Manuel Paulinich Velarde: This year, Peru and India celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations. This is an opportunity to build upon the achievements we have reached so far and to set new goals for the future, with the aim of laying the groundwork for establishing a strategic partnership.
