<p>blaz&bull;er /?blāzər/-- &ldquo;Blazer&rdquo; is generally distinguished from a sport coat and as a more formal garment, and tailored from solid-colored fabrics, with a laid-back fit. Several words I can pull from this analogy: &ldquo;Distinguished&rdquo; &ldquo;Solid&rdquo; &ldquo;Laid back fit&rdquo;. Yeah, this can be morphed into a good analogy of a person, and these 3 words coincide with my next interview for &ldquo;Real Talk with KShip&rdquo;. One of the fastest rising females, yes female music producers that has made a name for herself in the music scene, her name&hellip; Justine Blazer, and it is not a gimmick name, it is her given name. When I say this lady is on fire, I mean it in its truest form. Born and raised in the Motor City of Detroit Michigan and now has hunkered her roots down to continue to grow her passion, in music city, Nashville, Tennessee. And did I mention she is one bad ass on the guitar? Yeah! That too! Justine has become one of the most, &ldquo;I want to work with her&rdquo; people in the industry. In my research of women music producers, I found that Ethel Gabriel (1921-2021), may be one of the most prolific recording industry professionals you have never heard of. Ethel was the first woman record producer for a major record label and one of the first women in the world to work in A&amp;R. A census conducted in 2021 showed results that only two percent of producers were female while approximately 98 percent were male. Which shows the difficulty women face with the dominant male force of trying to &ldquo;fit in&rdquo; and be acknowledged, on the same platform/status. I may also add, three (3) women to date have won Grammys for Producer of the Year. When you read the responses that Justine has given me, you will see, that this transparent, passionate, crafty woman truly loves what she does and the people that she works with no matter where they are in their music career. One person I spoke with mentioned upon meeting her to her, &ldquo;you have queen energy&rdquo;. This &ldquo;Pioneer Soul Shaker&rdquo; has made quite a name for herself. This producer, dancer, model, singer, songwriter, musician, videographer, photographer, blogger, leader of her own band, motivational speaker, and the list grows and as things are added, it truly is a beautiful puzzle of art in the making and has been since the age of 3! One of the things she said during our interview was stay strong, stay humble and stay inspired. She speaks a truth that many wish they could do, as most of us can attest the indie music world, is hard to stay afloat at times and you must stay driven, because the competition on every level is fierce and fast! As I learned in this interview Justine is very transparent on her humble beginnings, and how her parents were a constant influence in her life and molded her into the person she has become today. Her father Thomas who worked at Ford Motor Company in Detroit taught her at a young age about financial responsibility and her mother running a Dance Studio, gave Justine and her sister, not only wonderful memories, but also a model to light their path and journey of what hard work and persistence can do for you as you morph into becoming an adult. Her professional career really took off, when she won the National Ram Trucks Battle of the Bands contest.</p>

Wow, I mean sitting here typing this I am totally amazed at this &ldquo;queen energy&rdquo; &ldquo;full steam ahead&rdquo; attitude and heart this lady has! Justine also has Ten7Teen Studios that has 2 locations in Nashville, which is a full range production company which ranges from production, Sync Licensing, Voiceovers, Career Consulting, Music Videos and so much more. Back in June, Justine attended the New Media Film Festival for the movie Hashtag Blessed the Movie, in which she had a private screening, which has her original song, &ldquo;Love me some Jolly.&rdquo; Being a Grammy Voting Member with the Recording Academy, as well as being a member for CMA and ACM, Justine continues to make a difference in music. She recently became a member for Music&rsquo;s Bold New Generation Class of 2022, in association with the Recording Academy. And yet another Sync Licensing Placement with the &ldquo;Young and the Restless&rdquo;. This year she received 9 nominations with the largest independent awards show in the US and Abroad called the Josie Music Awards, this year&rsquo;s 8th annual show will be held in her backyard at the historical Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. <p>KShip: So many things I want to try and cover with you today, but let me start by saying, wow have you been on the move lady! The last few years I have watched you grow so much on so many levels. Did you realize going into adulthood, that being so involved in the Performing Arts arena at a young age, (Justine&rsquo;s mom owned a dance studio) how it really helped your career ramp up and grow so much, I honestly don&rsquo;t even like saying &ldquo;your career&rdquo;, more of why did you continue to stay grounded and dug deep into the Performing Arts and branch out into being a producer &amp; everything else in between? And how did Justine</p>

<p id="1">Blazer come from Motor City and arrive in Nashville, years back? What drew you to Nashville?</p>
<p>Justine: Yes! My mom did have her own dance studio for 12 years! So much fun! Some of my best memories. I was exposed to so many types of music and genres growing up. I always wanted to be a part of the music industry, somehow, some way. The conventical &ldquo;normal&rdquo; life just wasn&rsquo;t for me. Haha. I saw my mom just doing her thing, being a baddy boss-babe business owner, entrepreneur and living her dream, I wanted to do the same. My parents encouraged me to think and dream big. Right after high school, I went to college, but I also traveled and modeled for car shows, pageants, fashion shows and more. I started performing professionally everywhere. I worked a singer/dance for a theme park and then moved to New York for a while to study music, dancing and acting. Then I started my own band, playing anywhere and everywhere! I did everything I could do in the Detroit area. The next logical step for me to continue to grow was to move to Nashville. I have been in Nashville for close to 11 years now. It&rsquo;s been a fun journey. I have grown so much, and I&rsquo;ve become the artist/ producer/composer I am today because of Nashville. But I do love my Motor City roots. I am going back to my soul roots, now that I am doing my new blues project. I just release my debut blues single called &ldquo;Bad Love&rdquo;. I am so excited. I won the Detroit Blues Challenge many years ago but didn&rsquo;t pursue blues at that time, because I had a local country promoter tell me not to. I am no longer listening to other people&rsquo;s opinions. I do other only what my heart and soul tell me to do.</p>

<p>KShip: I have a lot of Favorite Justine Blazer cuts, BUT my favorite was done a few years ago with our mutual friend artist/songwriter Chuck Thomas. Chuck kept telling me this song, Pioneer Soul Shaker, hits on so many levels. I can tell you it was my little anthem for a bit when I was going through some things. It&rsquo;s a song like, pick yourself up girl, jump in the car and just drive down and open road and let yourself go! Then you did a music video for it, which was pretty smooth as well. You had an interview with <em>Starry Mag </em>and you spoke about the song, and the one thing that stood out to me, and still does is what you said about what the song meant to you, and from this 2019 interview you have kept this same fire burning for what you do in the music world and you help bring people up with you. We all know there are not a lot of music producers that are female, so when I look at you. You are the &ldquo;Pioneer Soul Shaker&rdquo; for female music producers!</p>

<p>&nbsp;Justine: Thank you so much! I love that song too! It&rsquo;s so powerful and impactful. I am glad you like it as well. Chuck Thomas is an amazing writer. We have written many songs with him over the years. That was one of my favorites. Such a powerful message. I encourage anyone to just go for it. Stay humble, stay strong and stay inspired.</p>
<p>KShip: Your parents, Thomas and Cynthia Blazer, I know you could pen a nice novel about them, can you just share some of your moments about them?&nbsp;</p>
<p>Justine: My parents were fun. We used to take road trips every summer and winter. We would go to Florida or Yellow Stone, the beach, etc. They were fun people. The life of the party. My dad was hard on me.</p>

<p id="1">He taught me to work hard and not expect handouts. He taught me be independent and self-sufficient. I started working when I was 12 years old and never stopped. He was an engineer and Ford Motor Company. He wanted me to be responsible and financially independent. He had me pay for my own car, cell phone, etc. I worked all the time and still school. It was hard at the time, not going to lie, but I think that is why I have such a strong work ethic and persistence. My mom loved my sister and I in the pageants we did, dance competitions, musical theatre and all my singing stuff. We had lots of fun as family involved in so much.</p>

<p>KShip: Is there anything relatively new you have dove into, as far as your own personal growth? Such as public speaking or another side of production that you are getting more into. Any new endorsement deals or upcoming tour dates with your band, you can let our readers know about?</p>
<p>Justine: I have been doing some public speaking. I spoke at NAMM Show 2020, NAMM Show 2022, the Midwest Music Conference, a few Music Expos and more. Been really fun to share my knowledge to a new generation. I just receive a new endorsement deal with Mojave Microphones. Great products. I still work with Auto-Tune as well and a few others. Right now, I play weekly in Nashville at my residency. We are also working some future road dates, so stay tuned!</p>

<p>KShip: How do you keep a &ldquo;work&rdquo; balance and &ldquo;life balance&rdquo; as you evolve? Because quite honestly on the outside looking in, you have a lot going on. DAILY! What does &ldquo;downtime&rdquo; look like for you, I know you love that lake life for starters.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Justine: I recently got a puppy. He is a 6-month-old Australian Sheppard. I have a new kitty. She is a 9-month tabby. I still have my 12-year-old Maine Coon cat, Tazzy. I love spending time with my animals. They bring me so much joy and helps me maintain a work/life balance. When the puppy goes #2 on the floor, that keeps life humble and a reality check really quick! Hah! I also like to work out, go for walks, get coffee and just chill and watch Tik Toks. That&rsquo;s my guilty pleasure.&nbsp;</p>
<p>KShip: With so many places added to the &ldquo;Nashville Scene&rdquo;, do you have a favorite place that is your go to for a date night or hang out with good friends and family? Nashville has grown so much over the last few years; some people feel its &ldquo;growing too fast&rdquo;, what is your take on that? It seems to be people are flocking there in droves and a lot not just as someone being in the business, they are coming because they want to call it home.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Justine: Yes there are so many new places! I honestly can&rsquo;t keep up. I do miss the &ldquo;Old&rdquo; Nashville. I felt more connected to the people then verse now. Now it&rsquo;s very touch and go. Sometimes I don&rsquo;t recognize this place figuratively and metaphorically. I do like M.L. Rose. Very good food. I do like Cheek wood. So pretty. Every year we go to Dancing Lights of Christmas. That is tradition for sure.</p>
