WARM UP ANY ROOM

Play Up Your Hearth "Make your fireplace the center of attention by hanging a piece of art or a large mirror above the mantel. It will draw the eye to the area and make it a focal point." -KD REID OF KD REID INTERIOR DESIGN & LIFESTYLE CURATION

As the frosty days of winter descend, the arctic fox goes from a "meh" mousy brown to a fluffy glamour-puss with fur as white as freshly fallen snow a look that's tailormade for living comfortably on the icy tundra. While we humans may not need to transform in quite the same way, there's no doubt we find ourselves hankering for a cozifying metamorphosis this time of year, too. Switching up your home decor and adding a few fresh touches is the perfect way to do just that.

Whether you live in a snowy winter wonderland or a locale where temperatures rarely dip below the mid-60s, making simple (affordable) tweaks to your space can create a snuggly vibe. These tips from design pros will help you transition to full-on hibernation mode.

Snuggle Up "Create a cozy reading nook with a comfortable place to sit, a spot table for your favorite warm beverage, and a plush area rug to complete that snug spot." -Maria Viola-Kuttruff of Viola Interior Design

Don't Forget Your Pup "I even change my dog's bed in winter. I give her a super-snug bed that she loves to burrow herself in during the winter months." -JOY WILLIAMS OF JOYFUL DESIGNS STUDIO

"I often switch out art around the house. For example, we have really lovely paintings and photography collected from trips to Vermont, but the subject matter is a snowy scene. They're more appreciated in the colder weather, and they can take you right back to that fond memory that makes your heart fill with joy." -Georgia Zikas of Georgia Zikas Design
