DEFINITELY SWEAT IT
Tatler Hong Kong

Those who sweat together, stay together—at least that's the idea driving the rise of social wellness spaces around the world
There's an intimacy and vulnerability about shared wellness experiences that really bring people together. As more of us seek to disconnect from all things digital and reconnect with ourselves and others on a deeper, more meaningful level, social wellness spaces are on the rise.
This isn't a new concept. Social bathing practices date back to ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, and modern forms exist from Turkish hammam to Japanese onsen and sento to Scandinavian sauna culture.
So why the renewed interest? With more travellers prioritising wellness while on the go, social wellness spaces have become a go-to for keeping up with self-care. Add to that the growing sober movement, causing more people to search for ways to socialise that don't involve alcohol and late nights. We've rounded up some of the most aesthetically pleasing, well-equipped social wellness spaces around the world.
BALI, INDONESIANIRVANA LIFE
Capturing all the Bali stereotypes—and we mean this in a good way—Nirvana Life in Canggu cultivates a vibrant, community-focused approach to fitness and recovery. This wellness centre boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including a fully equipped gym, specialised areas for calisthenics and yoga, and an outdoor training space if you really want to turn up the heat.
Speaking of heat, the large sauna with cascading seats is perfect for socialising while working up a sweat. There's also an infrared sauna, and communal cold and hot plunge pools to complete your recovery circuit. By fostering a sense of belonging and hosting a roster of community events, it’s no wonder this place is often likened to a Bali beach club without the booze.
