WHAT IS COSTOCHONDRITIS?
The cartilage that connects your ribs to the breastbone (sternum) creates a joint called the costochondral joint. The inflammation of the cartilage bone in your chest leads to costochondritis, which is a harmless pain but feels like a sharp pain. Most people mistake it for a heart attack just because it is related to the heart.
