ROAR POWER

Like the stupendously engineered Ferrari Daytona SP3 it channels, Montblanc's Ferrari Stilema SP3 writing instrument is a smart and sexy machine.

ROAR POWER

Of course, a car is not a writing instrument. But imbued with the right spirit and finesse, a beautifully constructed writing instrument can, like the most dynamic of automobiles, evoke excitement and power. And, depending on how you wield it, it can also take you places.

Like the new Ferrari Daytona SP3—the Italian carmaker’s £2 million, 6.5-litre, V12-powered homage to the flamboyant and high-octane race cars of the 1960s—the writing instrument it inspires, Montblanc’s Ferrari Stilema SP3, demonstrates precision engineering and exudes breathtaking glamour. Montblanc and Ferrari first collaborated on the Great Characters Enzo Ferrari editions in 2021, so this coalescing of virtues is something that both companies would’ve been familiar with. However, distilling the essence of Ferrari’s most powerful road car into a piece of art you can hold in your hand does present unique challenges.

Describing the collaboration, Nicolas Baretzki, CEO of Montblanc, admits that a car and a writing instrument have completely different functions and construction. As such, the aim was “to create a writing instrument that perfectly aligned with the philosophy and design language of the Prancing Horse”.

“Together with (Ferrari), we have defined a new family of writing instruments that seamlessly merge both Ferrari and Montblanc identities, pushing boundaries of design and innovation within our respective industries,” says Baretzki.
