BY ALL ACCOUNTS, Hildegard Wortmann, Audi's member of the board of management for sales and marketing, is a veteran in the automobile industry. She first joined BMW back in 1998 and swiftly moved up the ranks before taking on her current role at Audi in 2019.
Yet rather than resting on her laurels, she's remarkably prescient in her vision for electromobility, actively steering Audi into relatively uncharted terrain. Audi has announced that it will deliver solely electric-powered vehicles from 2026 and plans to cease its production of combustion engines by 2032. The Volkswagen Group, which includes Audi, is also investing around €160 billion into new, greener technologies.

Nessie Vinylcleaner ProPlus+, RECORD CLEANING MACHINE
I ’m a music lover first, not the most Type A of audiophiles. Sure, I clean my records, but I’m not obsessive about keeping them immaculate like my audiophile father is;1 he cleans each record ultrasonically before it lands on his turntable platter, writing the date of each record’s last bath and which cleaning machine he used on the outside of a fresh plastic inner sleeve before sliding the LP back inside.

The Secret to EV Success Is in the Software
There’s a common misconception about what makes electric vehicles so disruptive. Automakers have long considered their core technology to be the powertrain—essentially the engine and transmission. For all of the components they bought from suppliers, it was a pretty safe bet that premium carmakers in particular would assemble the powertrain themselves. That, they thought, is what set them apart. Thus, BMW AG’s advertising slogan is “Freude durch Fahren” (“joy through driving”).
