How They Built Their Dream Bag Wardrobe

BAG WARDROBE:
A room in a three-storey house

WANG WAN TING 36, banker

Renovating the home of her dreams may have taken about two and a half years, but the wait was well worth it – especially considering how Wang Wan Ting envisioned the space for her walk-in wardrobe, which is situated directly in front of the lift entrance on the second floor.

“The space is my dream sanctuary, and I couldn’t be happier,” she says of the wardrobe that houses her extensive luxury bag collection, showcased on specially built shelves to create a boutique-like experience.

During the ideation stage, Wan Ting shared with her interior designers that she wanted a bag wardrobe to accommodate her growing collection. They conceptualised a design that catered to bags of varying heights, with plenty of shelf space for future purchases.

But what happens when her bag collection exceeds the shelf storage? Wan Ting answers candidly: “I’ll just hand them over to my mum!”

As a mother of two boys, she also shares that she looks forward to sharing her bag collection with her future daughters-in-law.

Why did you decide to display your bags?

Bags deserve to be showcased, admired and used.

How did you arrive at this design?

I opted for an open-shelf wardrobe design and collaborated with a wardrobe design specialist. Together, we meticulously planned every detail and category for the ideal storage solution.

Where do you look for inspiration?

Home decor magazines, websites and Pinterest.

Do you have a favourite bag brand?

I don’t really focus on specific brands, but I do have a soft spot for Chanel for its enduring quality and value retention.

Have your guests seen your bag wardrobe?
