AS WE ENTER the fourth month of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict (if you count from 7 October 2023 and not from the Arab-Israeli war of 1948), the second year of the Russia-Ukraine war (if you don't count from the first conflicts of 2014) and the 10th month of the War in Sudan (if you don't count from the two-decade civil war that began in 1983), there is a growing sense of existential fear.
