Indian mutual fund industry in 2042
The mutual fund industry has a combined corpus of about 40 lakh crore. If we assume normal growth rates in deposits and the increasing mutual fund penetration, the total industry-wide AUM in 2042 would be close to ₹275 lakh crore!
While the number may appear audacious today, there are visible signs, like increasing investor participation from cities beyond the top 30, rapid adaptation of digital platforms by the new generation, and growth of institutional investors through passive funds, which are pointing towards the increasing penetration of mutual funds.
