The house was originally built in 2014 and designed with a modern take on Edwardian architecture. The original architects were enlisted once again by the homeowners in early 2020 to work on a renovation and extension to the property alongside interior designer Aisling Wilson, Creative Director of award-winning studio Ash Wilson Design. It will come as no surprise that Covid impacted the build schedule with work only really getting underway in early 2021. With three young children, the owners felt that it was best to vacate the house while the work was taking place and they moved back in September 2021, just in time before the schools started back.
As Aisling explains, ‘The brief was to create an effortless living space that connected to the outdoors, for a busy home of five. We encountered many delays but we still managed to stay on track. Our design and build team was exceptionally strong which helped overcome the unforeseen and uncontrolled obstacles that 2021 threw at us.
‘The clients love to cook so the need to create the ease for cooking and dining was top of the priority list. This was as important for outdoors as it was indoors, which is reflected in the finished design and layout,’ adds Aisling. ‘The clients wanted a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoor space to take full advantage of the naturally beautiful landscape that surrounds their home.’
