While it's tempting to compare our current moment in history to the Roaring Twenties, it's the 1960s and '70s that feel most apropos Space Age optimism melded with disco drive. Refreshingly, how and why we come together is once again at the forefront of designers' minds.

Take, for instance, the work of Kouros Maghsoudi, whose first collection was aptly titled Mehmooni-the Farsi word for "party" and featured a table with a built-in ice bucket. Maghsoudi showed a suite of recycled-aluminum chairs last spring for New York Design Week, installed at Ian Schrager's Public Hotel, each draped with a rotating phalanx of models.
