HELLEBORUS niger, Christmas rose, Lenten rose – call them what you will, hellebores are one of my top spring plants.
Early to flower and incredibly longlasting, they bring colour and joy to the garden when the rest of our spring plants are only really starting to think about getting going.
Now they are past their prime and need tidying up, though you may wish to leave them to their own devices a little longer to see if they self-seed.
