To mark the reopening of its elegant Marina Bay Sands boutique, Vacheron Constantin embarked on one of its biggest exhibitions in the region, featuring an exclusive curation of timepieces from the 19th century to present day. Though the scale of the endeavour was indubitably impressive, the phrase "God is in the details" was what gave The Anatomy of Beauty its trump card. Staged at ArtScience Museum in Singapore from October 16 to November 2, The Anatomy of Beauty set out to illuminate the Maison's permanent quest for absolute perfection in every detail through the fusion of decorative arts and watchmaking techniques. Close encounters are truly a rite of passage for a fuller understanding and appreciation of the nuances and specifics of a watchmaking brand, especially one as venerable as Vacheron Constantin. Founded in 1755, heritage is a commodity that runs deep and wide for the world's oldest watch Manufacture in continuous production for the last 267 years.
"The idea was to create an experience in which we could mix the notion of "anatomy of beauty" that we have in modern watches, and also in heritage pieces coming from our private collection. An exciting project to showcase our consistency, legacy and heritage, and the fact that this quest for beauty is not a marketing creation, but rather the reality," said Christian Selmoni, Vacheron Constantin Heritage & Style Director, whom we met for a chat before the media preview of The Anatomy of Beauty. From the Maison's private trove of around 1,600 heritage watches, Selmoni was given the latitude to curate the selection of 24 exceptional timepieces replete with storytelling and information to be incorporated in The Anatomy of Beauty experience.
