THE OVERTHINKING GIRL'S GUIDE TO TOUGH DECISIONS

Indecisive? Maybe? Possibly? You’re not alone: Decision anxiety affects everyone, especially when under pressure from friends, parents or school. And while being thoughtful is a good thing, overthinking can leave you feeling totally frustrated and confused.

But it *is* possible to get out of your head and make tough decisions with ease. Whether it’s deciding to take an honors class (or not), which summer camp to pick (lacrosse? band? both?) or saying yes to a date (hey, it’s only boba…), follow this handy guide to making the best choice for you. No coin toss needed.

DEFINE YOUR VALUES.

Your values are the things that matter most to you-having good friends, spending time with family, creating art, helping animals, hanging outdoors...you get the idea. And values have everything to do with strong decision-making.

"Knowing our values helps pull us away from impulsive decisions and think about how we want to be as a person," says Dr. Rebecca Suchov, a therapist who specializes in treating teens. "They can help us move past feelings of fear, anxiety or pressure from others." So do a little "me-search" to figure out what your values are and use them as the foundation to make your next big call.
