Keeping It Real!

It was a muggy Monday when I, as usual, was fighting to meet multiple deadlines and also had a video interview with Masaba Gupta. I made a frantic call to her account manager to reschedule it, a request she politely declined given the big launch! But Masaba is one of the most well-articulated artists, who embraces beauty in its true form, and I was excited to pick her brains. It's not the first time Masaba stepped into the beauty industry; she had a successful stint with Masaba X Nykaa. "I always wanted to go solo! I've saved multiple moodboards for beauty for years; there's no way that I could dream of making it with a partner," says Masaba, who realised the gap in the industry a few years ago but wanted to wait till she was ready to do it herself, and so Lovechild was born. "With Lovechild, I want Gen-Z to be able to get an experience of what the House of Masaba brand stands for," she adds. Well, trust Masaba to take inspiration from her life and turn it into a form of artistic expression; the brand name is a nod to her own story. Here's a little peek into what was an extensive discussion on the launch of Lovechild.
