SHE’S always been the kind of person to call a spade a spade – she doesn’t mince her words, throws the f-bomb, just says it like it is.
So when she announced it was high time “somebody needs to grow a pair and step up”, it was vintage Charlize Theron. She was tired of being single. Her kids weren’t babies anymore and she was ready to start dating again. So come on guys.
“I’m starting to open myself up to perhaps finding the love of my life,” she said. But that was four whole years ago and in that time nobody seemed to grow a pair and step up.
Charlize, gorgeous, rich and successful, remained on her own, raising her daughters and hanging out with her mom.
But just look what’s happened now. A man finally appears to have risen to the challenge, taken our golden girl by the hand and whipped her off the market.
Pictures of Charlize with a new “mystery man” emerged recently when the two were spotted on a lunch date in the Los Feliz neighbourhood of Los Angeles, looking relaxed and casual as they strolled around hand in hand.
It didn’t take long for the mystery about the man to be cleared up: he’s Alex Dimitrijevic, a 1,9m-tall former model who appeared in campaigns for sports brands such as Malbon Golf, Combo Boxing and AG Green Label.
The 46-year-old is from LA, studied at the University of California and is divorced, although there’s not much more information out there about him or his ex-wife.
What is known is that he’s a “laidback guy”. “And Charlize really likes that,” an insider says. The pair reportedly met at an event in January and have been taking things slow.
